20 Life Lessons

life lessons

I enjoy learning about new things. I’ve always been curious and forward thinking.

When it comes to implementing what I’ve learned – now, that’s a different story. For me, some things are harder to put into action than others.

You may pick up on things quickly. Or, you may be like me and learn the hard way. Either way, here are 20 life lessons:

  • When people see your heart, they will see their way through your imperfect words.
  • To help people, learn to listen as long as you possibly can without responding.
  • There is a difference between delegating and entrusting. To develop future leaders, we must entrust others with important opportunities.
  • When someone voices a complaint, asking them for their suggestion or recommendation diffuses many complaints and resulting rumors.
  • You can gain authority and position without connecting with others, but you won’t have many friends.
  • When making decisions, make sure you understand how they affect key relationships.
  • People take your example far more seriously than they take your advice.
  • Opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.
  • All instructive or corrective feedback should be given in private.
  • Be passionate and entrepreneurial – yet take on only as much as you can accomplish in a calm, confident spirit.
  • Genuine gratitude for challenging people and circumstances will allow you to accomplish more than you ever thought possible.
  • Don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something.
  • You cannot get where you need to be without traveling the path you are on – make the most of it.
  • Never fight a battle in which nothing positive is accomplished by a victory.
  • True success is when your successor is successful.
  • Your past is part of your destiny.
  • Peace and fulfillment elude those who continually relive failures.
  • The greatest gift you can give your spouse and kids is time.
  • Dream BIG – you’ll accomplish a lot more!
  • To get better results, get more specific with your plans.

What would you add? Which one of these can you relate to?

“Your past is part of your destiny.” True, in part. Your past doesn’t have to define your destiny.

True – your past should never define you! However, it does have a lot to do with who you choose to become. We can choose to let our past control us or we can choose to be stronger because of it. Thanks for connecting!
